Company has Rolladens installed after attempted break-in

An attempted burglary at a local business about two years ago resulted in the owners installing Rolladen Rolling Shutters to prevent against further break-ins.

“We got a phone call from the alarm company at about midnight saying our offices had been broken into,” recalled Larry Gilmore, Jr., who along with his father, Larry, Sr., owns Gilmore Construction in the southwest valley. “We have so much to lose, and in fact, have more than $100,000 in memorabilia.

“It’s infuriating to know that someone has broken into your business,” he said. “We even had the burglars on video tape and couldn’t get their license plate.”
The Gilmores turned to Rolladen Rolling Shutters because they felt safe knowing that the product deters criminals.

“In our eyes, burglars won’t even try to break in knowing that the building or residence is protected by Rolladen Rolling Shutters” the younger Gilmore explained. “From what we understand, burglars want quick hits and the shutters won’t allow that sort of crime.”

The company now has Rolladen Rolling Shutters on four windows at its offices.
“The Rolladens are worth it,” said Larry Gilmore, Sr., who operates the shutters via a remote control. “In fact, we’re thinking about having more of them installed on other commercial buildings.”

Rolladen Rolling Shutters vice president Bianca Minnozzi said the company has had countless calls from business owners wanting the protection of Rolladen in the past year.

“Unfortunately, small businesses are getting victimized badly nowadays,” said Minnozzi, whose mother, Fran, opened the business here in 1984. “We recently have heard of many dental or optical offices that have been burglarized. In fact, one optical office was broken into four times before they purchased Rolladens.

“They tried everything including film on the windows that is supposed to prevent anyone from breaking the glass. The burglars threw a rock through the window and stole all the designer eyeglasses.”

The shutters are roll-filled aluminum slats that can be operated manually or electrically on doors or windows. They have been in Europe for more than 100 years.

Local company representatives custom-measure each business or residence and build the shutters in Southern Nevada with parts from Europe. Installation usually takes place two to three weeks after measurements have been taken.

Rolladen's showrooms are situated at 6168 W. Charleston Blvd, just west of Jones, and at 4405 Wagon Trail Ave., near Arville and Sunset in the southwest valley.

The offices are open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment on Saturday.
