Long-time Southern Nevada resident Shireen Johnson called on Rolladen Rolling Shutters after burglars broke into her home one Sunday morning in March.

Musician Shireen Johnson came home from church one Sunday morning in March to discover that a burglar had broken down her front door. The burglar went through her house, stole about $6,000 worth the jewelry and also escaped with a $4,000 guitar given to her by her parents in 1964.

But the resident of the northwest valley doesn’t have to worry anymore after having Rolladen Rolling Shutters installed on 14 windows and doors on her residence.

“The officer who came to investigate the burglary advised me to get Rolladens,” Mrs. Johnson said. “She said to get something besides an alarm because burglars disable alarm systems.”

The burglars also stole sound equipment from the 2,400 square-foot residence.

Rolladen Rolling Shutters, which have been in Europe for more than 100 years and have also been in Las Vegas since 1984, prevent against burglaries and lower power bills. Comprised of strong roll-filled aluminum slats, they deter crime while also providing peace of mind.

“I am very happy with their service,” said Mrs. Johnson, a 30-year resident of Southern Nevada. “My home is much safer now and it’s also cooler during the summer.

“When I leave now, I feel relieved knowing that I can lower my shutters. I don’t worry any more.”

Mrs. Johnson said her power bill dropped at least 20 percent with the addition of Rolladen Rolling Shutters.

The shutters also block the wind, cold and dust from a residence or business. They prevent against bleaching of furniture, draperies and carpeting. During the past several months, Rolladen has noticed more calls from residents seeking help to block noise created near busy roadways.

Each home or business is custom measured for the Rolladens, which can be operated manually or by remote control. Installation is usually done about four to six weeks after measurements have been taken.

The shutters are available in an assortment of colors. They are also covered by a three-year warranty for the parts and one year on labor.

Each home or business is custom-measured for the shutters, which are built locally.

Rolling shutters continue to become more important in Southern Nevada as burglaries continue to escalate. The multi-faceted makeup of the product has also been utilized throughout America as residents and business owners protect their properties against hurricanes.

Rolladen now has two offices, one at 6168 W. Charleston Blvd., and its newest location at 4405 Wagon Trail Ave., near Sunset and Arville roads in the southwest valley.

Each office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and by appointment on Saturday.
