Rich and Mary Shipler chose to live on a golf course in the northwest valley. Errant golf balls launched by players at the course spurred the couple to call on Rolladen Rolling Shutters for protection against damage to their windows and sliding glass doors.
“We had to do something for protection,” Mr. Shipler explained of his 1,900 square-foot single-story home. “The golf balls were flying all over.”
The Shiplers have proof that the Rolladens have worked because some of their shutters have slight dents in them from when golf balls have hit the shutters.
Better yet, the Shiplers also discovered the benefits of Rolladen against the glaring sun and dust.
“If you sleep late with the Rolladens, it’s like sleeping in a dark room,” he explained. “They are ideal and they’re sound proof, too. Then, too, there is the protection for security reasons. I really enjoy them.”
In addition, the Shiplers have noticed the fact that the air conditioner of their home barely turns on during the summer when the shutters are down.
“With the shutters, the air conditioner barely turns on ,“ Mr. Shipler said. “With Nevada Power raising its rates again, the shutters are a big help. They’re well worth the money.”
Rolladen Rolling Shutters president Fran Minnozzi said the owners of many homes along golf courses have called on the company for help since she opened the firm in 1984.
“So many people buying on a golf course never think of the problem until shortly after they move in,” she said. “If the ball ever goes through the windows and into a home, they can be very dangerous.”
Rolladens are foam-filled aluminum slats used to cover doors and windows. Industry representatives say the shutters lower power consumption as much as 64 percent. In addition, they deter burglars while also blocking cold, wind, dust and noise.
Each home or business is custom measured for the Rolladens, which can be operated manually or by remote control. Installation is usually done about four to six weeks after measurements have been taken.
The shutters are available in an assortment of colors. They are also covered by a three-year warranty for the parts and one year on labor.
Rolladen personnel have urged customers to have the rolling shutters installed soon to beat the rush affiliated with the summer months.
Rolling shutters have been a part of commercial and residential construction in Europe for more than 100 years. In fact, more people in Europe have Rolladens than they do drivers licenses.
Rolladen now has two offices, one at 6168 W. Charleston Blvd. Its newest location is situated at 4405 Wagon Trail Ave., near Sunset and Arville roads in the southwest valley.
Each office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and by appointment on Saturday. |
